Canton's McKenney Middle School 6th Grade Jazz Ensemble recorded a cd titled A Bang and a Whisper in music teacher Larry Baycura's classroom. Here are their renditions of the Miles Davis composition Freddie the Freeloader, and the Deep Purple hit Smoke on the Water.

The seven-member Canton Jazz Combo visited the NCPR studio January 16, 2003. They talked with Martha Foley and recorded some fine jazz. They are raising money to finance a trip to a New York City jazz band competition later this year.

21-year-old Cuban jazz trumpeter Jasek Manzano was in the North Country on his first trip ever to the United States and stopped into the NCPR studio on February 26, 2002. He's looking to fulfill a dream of studying music at the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston.
